CALLMEQUEENBEE

POPULAR horseman Mat Rue hopes history can repeat itself when he heads to Melton tomorrow night.

Rue is set to contest the Ladbrokes Australian Pacing Gold Final with Callmequeenbee, which is one of the outsiders in the $322,000 feature.

Successful in her heat and third in her semi, the daughter of Shadow Play is listed as a $20 chance after drawing the inside of the second row.

For Rue, capturing a prestigious event with an outsider is nothing new, having partnered Baby Bling to glory in the 2013 Miracle Mile at odds of 33/1.

“It would be great if it worked out like it did with Baby Bling,” Rue said. “Callmequeenbee may be one of the outsiders, but she’s certainly not out of it.

“She has a draw I believe suits her, she is in great shape and is ready to go.

“I worked her yesterday and she felt sensational. I couldn’t be happier with her and I’m really looking forward to the race.”

Citing Molly Kelly as the one to beat, Rue feels the draw has provided Saphirique with a prime opportunity to return to the winners’ circle.

“Molly Kelly has been great in all her runs and is the one to beat again,” Rue said. “Saphirique is right back in it from three and will take a bit of catching if she leads.”
