Victory: Oliver Winkle and Leonard Cain on the way to the winners enclosure at Marburg on Sunday
A trio of Queensland young drivers snared important victories across the Easter long weekend.
At Albion Park, promising young driver Madi Dux landed her first Saturday night double following the victories of Bettor Than Best and Usane Flash.
Both pacers are prepared by former Bathurst horseman Jack Butler.
Dux went within a whisker of a treble when Days End went agonisingly close when finishing a nose second behind the Butler trainer Major Lexus.
The daughter of Mark and Donna, both talented horse people in their own right, has enjoyed good success this season with 13 winners to date.
Last week, Dux steered talented open class pacer Shannonsablast to success at Albion Park in a time of 1:54.2.
At the annual Easter raceday at Marburg, a non-TAB venue west of Brisbane, both Kelsey Schulz and Leonard Cain registered victories.
Schulz, on her first day of race driving guided the Darren Hooper trained Cruisin Along to victory in the second heat of the Ipswich City Council Young Drivers Series.
Cruisin Along rated 2:03.5 for the 1850m event.
The first drive for Schulz came in the opening heat of the series when unplaced behind Machbino earlier in the day.
Schulz is currently assisting with the leading stables of Chantal Turpin and Pete McMullen.
It won’t be long until Kelsey is competing against her mother Karen, who prepares her own pacer Soldier Of Fortune.
Meanwhile, Cain took his maiden drive at Marburg which resulted in instant success when he led throughout with Oliver Winkle in the Des Wallace Memorial Pace.
Prepared by his father Errol, Oliver Winkle scored easily in a time of 2:00.1 for the 1850m event.
The lightweight reinsman, driving his first season, has enjoyed great success with 36 winners to date.
He is currently sitting 8th in the Concession Drivers premiership.
Cain is employed by leading combination of Vicki Rasmussen and Shane Graham.
