BOOM youngster Vincent capped off a huge evening for Ladbrokes Australian Pacing Gold graduates by capturing the New Zealand Derby at Addington last night.

While some of the latest crop of two-year-olds battled it out in three Ladbrokes APG race series heats at Melton, Vincent was claiming his second Blue Riband of the season.

Successful in the New South Wales Derby during his recent Trans-Tasman campaign, worked to the lead from barrier five before accounting for his stablemate Ultimate Machete and Eamon Maguire.

Co-trained and driven by Mark Purdon, the son of Art Major and Kept For Pleasure rated 1:55.1 for the 2600-metre trip.

Vincent’s overall time of 3:06 slashed two-and-a-half seconds from Lazarus’ national record established in last season’s Blue Riband.

The colt will be given a short break before being aimed at the Harness Jewels on June 3.
