The trots in Victoria are making a play to increase their hoof print in New Zealand markets.

Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) today announced a content partnership with a New Zealand-based digital publication, HarnessXpress.

The arrangement will see the twice-a-week HarnessXpress, which has a cult following among harness fans, publish Victorian metropolitan fields and a meeting preview in its Friday preview edition, and a weekend review from Victoria in its Tuesday issue.

“The Kiwi trots population is obviously aware of Victorian harness racing but this exciting arrangement with HarnessXpress will provide subscribers with a much better understanding of the storylines out of Victoria,” HRV Media/Communications Manager Cody Winnell said.

“The publication of detailed fields and form comment will better equip Kiwi punters and ensure they can place a bet with increased confidence on Victorian metropolitan trots.

“As a long-time subscriber to HarnessXpress myself, I can vouch for the quality of this e-magazine, which takes an objective view to news and views within the industry. We are rapt to be on board with increasing the narrative of Australian harness racing to a wider audience.”

HarnessXpress managing editor Frank Marrion also welcomed the initiative.

“We were very pleased to accept a proposal from Harness Racing Victoria to run their feature race meeting fields each week in our Friday preview issue,” Marrion said.

“Obviously there’s a lot of Kiwi horses competing in Victoria and around Australia and this component of the Xpress will further enhance and compliment the publication for our subscribers.

“News and review stories will also be welcomed in our Tuesday issue from journalists close to the source.”

The HarnessXpress, an independent publication, was launched by Marrion in the spring of 2015 and is an e-magazine emailed twice a week to subscribers.

“The strength of the publication lies in its method of delivery,” Marrion said.

“People want their news and content fresh and delivered to their doorstep (inbox) in a neat little package and emailing a publication to people anywhere in the world on a twice-weekly basis is the perfect vehicle to achieve this.

“The content in the Xpress is coordinated in the 24 hours prior to publication, and I can be inputting and updating information up to give minutes before pushing the send button.”
