SUPPLEMENTARY STEWARDS REPORT

GLOBE DERBY – FRIDAY 17 MARCH 2017

On Monday, 20 March 2017, HRSA Stewards concluded 2 inquiries from Race 4, the LION DIARY & DRINKS PACE that were open on Friday 17 March 2017.

Mr Trotta pleaded guilty to the charge pursuant to Rule 156 (2), in that he used the whip of BELLA SOPIE between the 400 metres and the 100 metres with a free hand. Mr Trotta was fined the sum of $200.

Mr Trotta also pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to Rule 250A (1),(a) in that a breath sample taken from him subsequent to his drive in race 4, upon BELLA SOPHIE detected an alcohol level in excess of the allowable threshold of 0.02 as prescribed by Rule 251A (c).

Taking into account Mr Trotta’s early admission, his subjective factors the Stewards ordered that his licence to trainer be suspended for a period of 3 months and his driver’s licence be suspended for a period of 6 months both with immediate effect. Stewards further ordered that both period of suspension be served concurrently. In determining penalty, Stewards were mindful of the seriousness of the conduct, the potential outcomes to both horses and drivers in the race and further that Mr Trotta whilst under the influence of alcohol preformed both his functions as a trainer and driver.

Mr Trotta was advised of his rights on appeal.
