The promising three-year-old who carries the hopes of a Stable Of Stars will cool his heels after suffering illness, which will see him set back for a couple of months.

Live On Broadway was scheduled to run in Sunday’s Burgan Bros Wholesalers Vicbred Platinum Country Series on Wangaratta Cup day, but was scratched by trainer Shannon McLean.

“We have had another setback with Live On Broadway,” McLean said.

“He’s been put out for a 10-day break after he suffered a viral infection again, which is likely linked to the hot and humid weather.”

The setback follows Live On Broadway’s fourth placing in his maiden start on February 9, when he struggled for a run but still produced an eye-catching fourth placing in the $7000 three-year-old pace.

McLean said he would be patient with the Art Major gelding.

“I am going to give him a bit of a break and bring him back slowly,” he said. “We are probably not going to see him back on track for about two months or so, perhaps beginning with a trial.”
