LANERCOST

LAST weekend’s Perth leg of the Ladbrokes Australian Pacing Gold yearling sales saw a reverse in buying trends.

While colts had previously led the way, Western Australia’s fillies were in high demand, with three of the top four lots members of the ‘fairer sex’.

In fact, two fillies tied as the highest priced purchases of the day, attracting bids of $57,500!

Overall, the fillies averaged $17,000, a massive 25 per cent higher than the colts at $13,693.

With numbers in their favour during Sunday’s Brisbane sale, the ‘girls’ could once again take centre stage.

A sensational crop of 70 lots will pass through the ring at Albion Park, which breaks down to 38 fillies, 31 colts and a gelding.

Kicking off the day is a colt by triple Group One winner Lanercost from the talented, but lightly-raced, Emma Montana.

The second lot on the card if the first filly of the afternoon – a daughter of Always A Virgin and Empty Promises, dam of last season’s Albion Park Gold winner Jossie Jones.

As you would expect from an APG Ladbrokes sale, each lot is by a top sire including the likes of A Rocknroll Dance, Art Major, Bettors Delight, Mach Three, Mr Feelgood and Rock N Roll Heaven and Roll With Joe to name a few.
