Leading breeders support Bathurst yearling sale

MANY of New South Wales’ leading studmasters and breeders have thrown their weight behind this year’s Bathurst Gold Crown Yearling Sale, to be held at the Bathurst Showground on Sunday, March 19.

Brooklyn Lodge, conducted by Doug and Janet Moore, long-time supporters of the sale, has the largest draft with 17 youngsters including a half-sister to the Australian Pacing Gold winner Rosa Mach and a filly out of the multiple Group 1 winner Protikori.

The State’s leading breeding establishment, Yirribee Pacing Stud, Wagga has entered 15 highlighted by colts from the Pink Bonnet winner Miss Nobilo, the Queensland Triad victor Tallaringa Drive and the NSW Oaks placegetter Eternal Love.

Lochend Stud, Maitland, of Paul Carmody, has 13 entries from the first crop of the fast Artsplace horse Shoobee’s Place including a half-brother to the talented Shez Sugarsweet, winner of last Saturday’s Wagga Oaks.

The 11-strong consignment of Wayne and Anne Lamb’s Golden Gait Stud, Canowindra, includes progeny of the first crop of the colonial bred stallions Caribbean Blaster and Alta Christian and the second crop of the great Auckland Reactor.

Redbank Lodge Standardbreds, of Paul Kahlefeldt, Wagga, has nominated seven youngsters including a half-brother to the NSW Breeders Challenge Blue winner Lettuceriprita, while Ken and Sue Smith’s Mimosa Banks Stud has entered six and Darren Reay’s Medowie Lodge five.

Other well known NSW breeders with multiple representation include Denis Howe, Eugene Bennetts, the Dumesny family, John Dockerill, David Micallef, Greg Smith, John Dwyer, Colin Slade, Robert Ross and Chris Roweth.

Interstate breeders include Brian and Graeme Gourley, John Coffey, Neville Cranston, Robert Rothacker, John Nalder, Sally Ann Burgess and Bolnora Breeding.
