HAVING just faced the likes of world-class pacers such as Lennytheshark, Smolda and Lazarus has not deterred Yayas Hot Spot.

Instead, since his seventh-placed effort in the Miracle Mile almost a fortnight ago, the gelding has flourished according to trainers Shane and Lauren Tritton.

“Yaya worked the best he ever has this morning,” Shane said on Tuesday.

Subsequently Team Tritton will be packing their float with confidence as they head to Young’s TAB.COM.AU Carnival Of Cups meeting with Yayas Hot Spot this Saturday night.

The son of Jeremes Jet is one of the early fancies for the Group 3 Cordina Chicken Farms Young Cup and the Trittons are out for redemption following the pacer’s result in last year’s feature where he finished seventh.

“Young is the perfect track for him,” Shane said.

“He should have won last year but he fired up with the hood on and since we’ve taken that off he has been perfect.

“We want to make amends for last year.”

Drawn on the second row in barrier eight, the Trittons consider Yayas Hot Spot as the one to beat.

“He is certainly dropping a bit in grade and not facing Lenny (Lennytheshark) this time,” Shane said.

“Considering his last three starts have been at Group 1 level, I’m sure he will be hard to beat.”

The Trittons will only have one other engaged at that meeting being the pacer Lurah after scratching Im Twice The delight and Jango Fett on Tuesday morning.

“They both didn’t pull up well enough after racing on Monday,” Shane said.

Team Tritton had a number of horses engaged at Bankstown on Monday and walked away with a double following wins with Rocknroll Legend and Eh Ef El.

The later was making his debut for the stable and won by more than 43 metres.

“The Carousel is the long term plan for him,” Shane said.

“At this stage we will look at the Honouree Stakes during the Bathurst Gold Crown Carnival with him.”
