The education of promising three-year-old pacer Live On Broadway will continue at Sunday’s Wangaratta twilight meeting, when the Stable Of Stars prodigy makes his second race day appearance.

Helping to spread the joy of ownership through the Stable Of Stars initiative, Live On Broadway has overcome a debut in sweltering temperature at Yarra Valley and then a cold to be primed and ready for his second crack at trots glory.

Trainer Shannon McLean said the three-year-old had trained terrifically at their Gisborne South track in preparation for the North East Fasteners Vicbred Platinum Country Series heat, part of the Wangaratta Pacing Cup race day.

“I’m very happy with him,” McLean said. “He worked on Saturday and worked really well. I’m happy with how he’s pulled up and he will have another hit-out on Thursday and hopefully be spot on for Sunday.”

Live On Broadway finished fourth on debut on February 9 for owners Rick McLean, Garry Lyon, Hamish McLachlan, Tim Watson, Jason Dunstall, Moana Hope, Larni Salathiel, Josh Jenkins, Craig Hutchison, Liam Pickering, John Rothfield and Danny Frawley.

The latter, a HRV board member, has announced he will gift his portion of Live On Broadway’s winnings to the HRV Hero program, which promotes life after racing options for standardbreds.

A strong showing by Live On Broadway on Sunday would see him qualify for the series $10,000 final at Tabcorp Park Melton on March 25 and McLean said the more racing the better.

“He just needs the race experience,” he said. “We have done all we can from a training point of view and now he just needs the experience of being out there and competing.”
