Racing Queensland has announced additional bonuses and prizemoney for QBRED horses following consultation with the Harness Advisory Panel on the QBRED breeders’ incentive scheme.

As part of the joint review targeting QBRED harness horses in 2017/18 there will be a new Showcase QBRED race meeting set down for Albion Park in May 2018

The program, which is already headlined by two 3YO Triad Finals ($50,000 Colts & Geldings and $50,000 Fillies) will now be complemented by two 2YO Breeders Classic Finals ($25,000 Colts & Geldings and $25,000 Fillies) and 2 x 4YO Triad Finals ($25,000 Colts & Geldings and $25,000 Fillies). Consolations for all divisions of the 2YO & 3YO Finals will round out the 10 race QBRED program.

Owners and Trainers will also have increased prospects for older horses with the reintroduction of a $2,500 QBRED bonus for the first win as a four-year-old.

The QBRED 4YO bonus when combined with the current $7,500 2YO and $7,500 3YO bonuses, lifts combined QBRED lifetime bonuses to $17,500 per horse.

The initiatives flowing from the review are a great incentive for prospective purchasers to invest at the upcoming APG Yearling Sale on March 12 and the Redcliffe Yearling Sale on April 9 with the delivery of increased opportunities for QBRED’s and the promotion of future investment in the Queensland industry.

Racing Queensland is committed to ensuring the growth and prosperity of all three racing codes in Queensland.
