INTERIM CHAIRMAN OF STEWARDS APPOINTED

HRSA are pleased to advise that Reid Sanders has been appointed as the interim Chairman of Stewards. He will commence in the role from 17 March 2017.

Reid Sanders is regarded as one of Australasia’s leading stewards and integrity officials. He has held senior roles in a number of racing jurisdictions including New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing, Queensland Racing and the Macau Jockey Club. Most recently he was Chief Operating Officer of Harness Racing NSW after serving as their

Manager- Integrity and Chairman of Stewards where they became a world leader in racing integrity.

As part of his role Mr Sanders will undertake a review of current stewarding and integrity operations, including training and development of the current panel, animal welfare management and involvement in the recruiting of a new Chairman of Stewards and Assistant Steward.

The appointment of Mr Sanders follows the appointment of current HRSA Chair of Stewards Barbara Scott to the position as Chief Harness Steward at Racing and Wagering, Western Australia (RWWA). Ms Scott is expected to conclude her employment at HRSA in March.

The appointment of Mr Sanders allows the smooth transition of Ms Scott in her new role and allows HRSA to plan for its ongoing future.
