HAVING watched the southern states lead the way for the Women’s Cancer Foundation – Ovarian Institute via the Teal Pants campaign, Queenslander Isobel Ross wished she could be a part of the fundraising.
Victoria and New South Wales had been running the scheme for several years, and thanks to help from Harness Racing Australia, the Teal Pants campaign has gone national this season – giving Ross the opportunity she’d hoped for.
“When I was told I was going to be involved I was really excited us Queensland girls were getting the chance to be a part of it,” Ross said.
“I’d watched Victoria and New South Wales doing their bit for such a wonderful cause and just wished I could be involved.
“Ovarian cancer has affected our family, so it is close to home, and I’m just so glad to help a great cause.”
Ross has certainly embraced her time to shine, with doubles at Redcliffe last Thursday night and Albion Park yesterday.
Ross also registered a win at Albion Park on Saturday night.
Funds are raised via each state’s governing bodies, along with corporate sponsors, which are donating a set amount per win...with Ross’ five victories welcome additions to the tally.
“It is good to get a winner any time, but even better in the teal pants,” Ross said. “I felt I had a few good chances yesterday as I had a few nice drives.
“I work for Jack Butler, which is where both my wins yesterday came from. Jack as a good team in work, so driving for him certainly helps.”
