A trio of wins placed a further $1200 into the Women’s Cancer Foundation pool at Tabcorp Park Melton on Saturday, success that also included it’s very own Team Teal trifecta.

The February 1 to March 11 national fundraiser to take the fight to ovarian cancer saw its coffers boosted to $12,400 in Victoria alone prior to today’s racing, aided by Saturday night's Kate Gath double and a Monique Burnett win in the TAB.com.au Pace Final.

Burnett’s win on Sioux West saw her Glenn Douglas-trained pacer eclipsed Kate Gath on Rollon Jack and Jodi Quinlan on Gipsy Blue as Team Teal drivers filled the placings.

“He has been going really good. He’s been able to do it tough and he is sort of one-paced, so the early speed it really, really helped him,” Burnett said post-race.

“I’ve had two drives on him for two seconds and now a win, so we’re not complaining.”

While Gath got pipped on this occasion, she wouldn’t have to wait long for success with trotters Clover Mac and Poseidon winning races seven and nine and putting $800 into the Women’s Cancer Foundation kitty, with Harness Racing Victoria and the TAB forking over $200 each for every female driver victory.

“(Clover Mac) had a good run tonight. He really impressed me,” Gath said.

“He hit the line really well, so it’s a good sign. He’s an athletic little horse, he’s not a great track worker, he doesn’t really do much for you, but he just knows how to race and those are the ones you like.”

And Posseidon was also a pleasing win, having been purchased on a flyer for a loyal group of owners.

“I saw a picture of him in the Adelaide yearling sales and we had an owner who was happy to buy one from there,” she said.

“It’s a great group of owners and so I’m really looking forward to the future.

“I like this little fella. He didn’t trot great then and I am still working on him a bit, but he’s got a motor and he did that quite well.”

Gath has now produced seven wins for Team Teal, the most of any Victorian female driver, with Jodi Quinlan and Laura Crossland having produced four wins apiece and Burnett three wins.
