The spotlight turns to South Australia this weekend for the Harnessbred.com Yearling sales.

People should realise that South Australia has started a massive overhaul of its position in the sport.  As reported this week they have announced the “much needed review” by the very highly respected Brian Cunningham   http://www.harness.org.au/news-article.cfm?news_id=32454

South Australia once had the best population of the leading mare families in this country and, whilst it might be a little optimistic to think it can reclaim its position at the very top, the Board is working extremely hard to climb back up the ladder. While it certainly looks like the Board are now on the right track, the state also needs its participants, trainers, drivers and owners to step up and also support this new direction that the sport is headed in.  l can see no better way than investing in our home grown yearlings and getting behind the sale this Sunday to turn ‘support’ intention into action.

With 26 yearlings consigned for the sale from some truly outstanding families, buyers can have the confidence to invest in the state’s best genetics available.  History also tells us it’s the best valued sale in the country.

The key message would be to all harness racing fans, please come out and support a state that is rebuilding to a much stronger base now that these changes have been implemented. It’s very possible that this sale will have the ability to offer a $50,000 plus race for yearling sold in future sales, however the dream will be over if the buyers don’t come out and show support this Sunday.
