#lynnsanity - the cricketer and the pacer

SOME cricket followers may already be familiar with the hashtag ‘Lynnsanity’ and if you follow harness racing as well you are about to see the term a lot more.

The sport now has its own equine version thanks to trainers Shane and Lauren Tritton naming a two-year-old they purchased at the Ready2Run Sale last year Lynnsanity.

But the association with cricket does not stop there.

The colt’s namesake, Australian cricketer Chris Lynn who has also been a dominate force in the Big Bash League for Brisbane Heat, has purchased a share in the horse – his first venture into harness racing.

“I follow cricket and I’ve wanted to name a horse Lynnsanity which is a hashtag associated with the cricketer Chris Lynn,” Shane said.

“I didn’t know Chris but I got in touch with him and told him I was naming a horse after him and he was keen on the concept and has taken a share in the horse.

“Chris and a few of his closest family and friends including his mum Kym and NRL legend Gordon Tallis have also taken an interest in the colt.

“Chris has had shares in gallopers and greyhounds before but never owned a standardbred but he sounds keen to be involved.”

Lynnsanity, the horse, went around in at education trial at Tabcorp Park Menangle last Tuesday and clocked 1:58 with a last quarter in 27.3s.

“He shouldn’t be too far off racing . . . he is paid up for Bathurst and the Breeders Challenge,” Shane said.

“We’ll have regular updates on the horse on our Twitter page (@Tritton_Team).”
