APG Lot 36 - a half-brother to Victoria Cup runner Mach Doro
HAVE a look at this impressive list and think…what do they have in common?
Baby Bling, Bling It On, Changeover, Chariot King, Chokin, Classy Filly, Coburg, Copper Beach, De Lovely, Elsu, Emjayem Grand, Fly Like An Eagle, Flying Pocketlands, Follow The Stars, Franco Sequel, Gotta Go Cullen, Guaranteed, Heaven Rocks, Il Vicolo, Its Only Rocknroll, Jadah Rose, Karena, Kept Under Wraps, Lazarus, Light And Sound, Likmesiah, Messini, Motoring Magic, Niki No No, Philadelphia Man, Pole Dancer, Saab, Sandy Bay, Smooth Gretna, Soho Valencia, Spirit Of Zeus, Stars And Stripes, Stunin Cullen, Talladega, Two Eye See, Vanlo Yorker, Veste and Yrubla.
The simple answer is they are all Group One winners, the even better answer is they all have relatives in the upcoming Melbourne leg of the Ladbrokes Australian Pacing Gold Sale.
Furthermore, their relatives are all being prepared be renowned nursery Benstud, which is also the place where fellow top shelf stars Bellas Delight, Eljaykay Pheonix and Royal Treat began their path into the racing world.
Amazingly, Benstud averages at least one Group One winner – and several feature winners – per year of operation!
This year’s crew consists of 13 colts and 10 fillies from top producing broodmares and outstanding sires such as A Rocknroll Dance, American Ideal, Art Major, Bettors Delight, Mach Three and Sportswriter.
Each is destined to attract plenty of attention as it enters the ring February 5, but which will receive the highest bid is a close call.
For example, Lot 36 is a half-brother to Fly Like An Eagle and multiple feature race winner Mach Doro, which has drawn the pole in tonight’s $400,000 Victoria Cup.
Lot 128 also has a connection to the Grand Circuit event, with the stunning filly a cousin to the raging favourite Lazarus.
Then there is Lot 67 which is a brother to another Victoria Cup runner – recent Inter Dominion heat winner, Bling It On.
