Soho Angel and Mick Stanley win the Tatlow Stakes.

Talented youngster Soho Angel is favoured to pick up an early feature when she heads to Tabcorp Park Melton tonight.

After scoring first-up from a spell last week, the Michael Stanley-trained filly is engaged in the Alabar Gold Chalice.

Despite drawing the outside of the front row, Soho Angel is a $1.50 public elect, with Stanley confident the three-year-old can live up to expectations.

“I’m very happy with her first-up run,” Stanley said. “She wasn’t flash, but got the job done.

“It was her first start for five months and she needed the run.

“Her work this week has been terrific and she will be a lot sharper this time around.

“The draw isn’t the best, but she’s a class filly and is fit enough to overcome it.”

Stating the Australian Pacing Gold graduate will improve with racing, Stanley has his sights set on the New South Wales Oaks, which is scheduled to be conducted at Menangle on February 25.

“The Oaks is the first main aim with her this time in,” Stanley said. “So her whole program will be based around having her at her peak for that.

“It’s still a couple of months off, so she will win have another run or two, a brief freshen up and then get ready for the trip to Sydney.”
