Williamson breaks his AYDC maiden

NEW ZEALAND representative Brad Williamson broke his maiden status in the Australasian Young Drivers’ Championship with a win at Narrogin tonight.

Williamson is one of four Kiwis in the tournament, competing in a nine-round series, which also includes a representative from each Australian state.

With several placings to his credit, Williamson’s triumph came by guiding All About The Cash to lead throughout from barrier two.

The mare accounted for Mon Alisa Jet, partnered by another Kiwi – Robbie Close – with Normally third for South Australian Jayson Finnis.

“After running a few placings, it’s good to get that win on the board,” Williamson said. “I’m loving my time here in Western Australia being part of the series.

“Everyone in the series is great and driving at the different tracks and visiting a few stables has been terrific.”

Should the variables go his way, Williamson can still claim the title, with Close, the defending champion, and New South Wales candidate Todd McCarthy tied at the table of the table.

In the event of a tie, the driver with the most victories shall be declared winner. If still tied, the greater number of seconds and so on until the winner is declared.
