Change to Australasian Young Drivers' Championship conditions

UNFORESEEN circumstances have resulted in a change to the Australasian Young Drivers’ Championship being conducted in Western Australia.

Promoted as a 10-round tournament, the series has unfortunately been cut back to nine heats.

The reduction stems from a lack of nominations for tomorrow night’s Narrogin meeting, with only one Championship race to be staged instead of the advertised two.

Other than one less opportunity to show their talent, the competitors will not be affected by the alteration, with the winner to be decided on points accrued from the nine heats.

The series concludes at Gloucester Park on Friday night, coinciding with the Inter Dominion Final.

Outside of racing, the drivers representing each Australian state and New Zealand have engaged in activities such as stable and stud visits, along with today’s Laser tag battle as part of their ‘day off’.

Australasian Young Drivers’ Championship Points Table:

Todd McCarthy (NSW) 65

Kyle Marshall (NZ) 60

Robbie Close (NZ) 57

Matt Anderson (NZ) 55

Nathan Dawson (QLD) 54

Brad Williamson (NZ) 43

Jayson Finnis (SA) 40

Jason Lee (VIC) 35

Stuart McDonald (WA) 27

Wade Rattray (TAS) 26
