A SOLID chance of breaking into the winners’ circle at Northam tonight, Queensland’s Nathan Dawson has a back-up plan if things don’t go his way.
Dawson is in Western Australia as his state’s representative in the Australasian Young Drivers’ Championship, which started at Gloucester Park last week and ends at the same venue on Friday.
With a second at Pinjarra yesterday his best result, Dawson is favoured to win the first of two heats this evening with promising filly Sarah Goody.
Boasting two wins and a second from her three starts this campaign, the daughter of Rich And Spoilt has drawn to lead throughout from barrier two.
“She should be hard to beat,” Dawson said. “She seems like a nice type and I look forward to driving her.
“It would be great to get a win on the board, so hopefully we can achieve that.”
Should the unfortunate happen and Sarah Goody is beaten, Dawson will extract revenge during tomorrow’s activity.
As part of the tournament, the competitors engage in various activities such as stable and stud visits and games…tomorrow is laser tag.
“If I get beaten tonight I will just shoot the person who beats me in the back…even if he’s on my team,” Dawson joked.
“It’s been fantastic over here. I’m really enjoying the competition and hanging with a top bunch of blokes.
“It’s an amazing experience and I hope I can do Queensland proud in the last few rounds.”
