As part of the harness racing industry commitment to improving the accuracy and descriptions of horse information contained in official databases, an automated exercise to decease or deregister horses will be finalised on Monday, 7 November 2016.
This automated activity will see 185,000 horses (aged 35yo+) listed as deceased, a further 142,000 horses (horses aged 20yo+ and not bred for over 2 years) listed as deregistered from both racing and breeding and 9,500 horses (15yo+ geldings not raced for over 2 years) listed as deregistered from racing.
Importantly, horses deregistered or deceased by this automated process are not removed from the database; the new information is added to the horses' existing record.
Examples of how horses will appear in respect of HRA's On-Line Reports are provided below.
Should any owner have a concern that their horse has been incorrectly listed, please contact your State Controlling Body to discuss.
In addition, following our recent mailout to owners, more than 20,000 forms have been returned to HRA. The State Controlling Bodies and HRA are working through these forms to add the relevant information to horses' records.
This has been an outstanding response and HRA thanks the industry for the time and effort with regard to providing such accurate and timely information.
