Hankook Tyres Hunter Cup
specialist Mont Denver Gold resumes on Saturday night at Moonee Valley in
preparation for his pet event.
The 2003 winner and 2004
runner-up will kick start a campaign aimed at securing his third consecutive
Cup berth in the $13,000 Cadbury Cherry Ripe M2-M4 Pace.
"We plan on racing
him every week between now and the Hunter Cup," co-trainer and driver
Chris Alford said.
"Everything we've
been doing and will do over the next month is aimed at the Hunter Cup.
"I haven't got a set
plan, we'll just see how he goes on Saturday night before we make up our mind
about what other races he contests."
Whilst he looks well
graded, the barnstorming seven-year-old is far from a certainty first-up in a
small, but talented field of race fit horses.
Underrated Maryborough
pacer Mosquito Gold is unbeaten in three runs this campaign and will be
striving to pass $150,000 in earnings with another victory.
Injury-plagued giant
Franco Heir and the classy Thatwilldo are others with genuine winning claims in
the 2090 metre mobile event.
