MEDIA RELEASE

Harness Racing SA are delighted to be hosting the Australian Drivers Championships at Globe Derby Park on Saturday 22 October 2016. This race meeting is one of the most significant events on the national harness racing calendar and will feature the best Drivers from all over Australia, with each State nominating two Drivers to compete. South Australia hosted the inaugural Championships in 2014 which was an outstanding night of racing and featured superb driving skills from Australia’s leading drivers.

The Championships will also be one of the selection criteria to determine Australia’s representative to compete at the 2017 World Driving Championships to be held in Canada.

As part of its planning for the Australian Drivers Championships, HRSA are pleased
to confirm the following arrangements for the race meeting:

• There will be a minimum of six races for the Australian Drivers Championship series;

• Each of these races will have $8,000 in prizemoney;

• All races are penalty free;

• No concession claims; and

• Drivers will be allocated by random ballot.

Additionally, through the generous support of Harness Racing Australia (HRA), HRSA are pleased to announce that a float rebate of $150 per horse will be paid to all regional and interstate trainers who nominate horses for all races on the night. The rebate will be paid to all trainers who are located more than 100km from Globe Derby Park.
