A formal launch of the upcoming racing season and industry forum for the Northern Region   will be held on Wednesday 31 August at the Port Pirie Harness Racing Club. The evening will kick off with the Port Pirie AGM commencing at 7.30pm followed by the season launch and industry forum. In addition the HRSA Board and management team will be meeting in Port Pirie on the afternoon of Wednesday 31 August.       

HRSA are delighted to confirm that the Port Pirie Harness Racing Club will host 28 race meetings at Phoenix Park in the 2016/17 racing season. The Club has secured premium race nights including 27 Friday nights and a Saturday night fixture for the very popular UBET Port Pirie Cup meeting.     

The highlights of the upcoming racing season at Port Pirie commences with the Whyalla Cup on Friday 30 December, followed by the Kadina Cup on Friday 10 February, the Boys Town Charity night on Friday 24 February and culminating with the UBET Port Pirie Cup on Saturday 25 March. As part of its planning HRSA wanted to ensure that the most popular and prominent race meetings for the region were conducted throughout the summer and daylight saving period when harness racing is in full flight and the regional communities can celebrate a very enjoyable ‘night at the trots’.      

HRSA CEO John Lewis stated that the Port Pirie Harness Racing Club Committee has been extremely active and firmly established itself as the ‘headquarters of racing’ in the northern region of South Australia. He also stated that the Club performs an important role in hosting race meetings for other regional clubs including Kadina and Whyalla.
