The Trans-Tasman rivalry will be fierce on and off the track at Tabcorp Park Melton on Sunday.

While Australasia’s best pacers and trotters lock horns on the famous Melton circuit, trots media personalities John Dunne and Michael Guerin will battle it out for charity in the Toolern Room.

Dunne will represent the green and gold and Guerin the All Blacks across five races (Races 5-9), with Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) donating $50 per tipster per race ($500 outlay) and all returns being donated to the annual TAB.com.au Charity Football/Netball Day.

The charity day, where trots participants battle each other on the football field and netball court, is a fun social day that raises money for a variety of children’s charities.

“Mick Guerin is a sharp form student with intimate knowledge of the Kiwis, so I’m up against it a bit there, but I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve,” Dunne said.

“I’m confident the Aussies playing on their home turf can turn the tables on the Kiwis this year.”

Guerin paid tribute to Dunne’s tipping prowess, tweeting: “Stiff opposition. I better get studying…”
