Stewards yesterday concluded an adjourned inquiry, from the Mildura meeting conducted on 05 June 2016, relating to currently suspended South Australian trainer Mr Shane Loone.
At the initial inquiry, evidence was taken from Mr Shane Loone, Stipendiary Steward Mr Adrian Petit and licenced driver Mr Michael Smith. During this inquiry it was established that Mr Loone was attending to the gelding Springfield OFlynn after the running of race 4 the Zilzie Wines Pace (3rd Heat). Mr Loone, who is currently serving a suspension of his trainers licence for a period of 9 months was observed removing gear from the gelding.
At today’s inquiry Mr Shane Loone pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 91(1) part (b) which states:
Subject to sub- rule (4) a person shall not carry on the activity regulated by licence-
(b) if the person’s licence is suspended;
After considering submissions on penalty, Mr Loone’s training licence was suspended for a further period of 4 weeks. This penalty is to commence at the completion of his current suspension which expires on 28 September 2016. The 4 week suspension will therefore conclude on 26 October 2016.
