Ex-Kiwi pacer, Zabrinski made it two wins from four Aussie starts with an impressive victory in the $20,000 VHRC Cup at Moonee Valley on Saturday night.

Zabrinski was handed the run of the race from gate 2 when Canchaguess galloped away from the pole. Driver Chris Alford then positioned Zabrinski behind the leader Perfect Gold Lombo and awaited the sprint lane. When it arrived he finished too strongly for Perfect Gold, who fought on well for second, and Jorj Dubilu in third place.

Favourite, Lombo Regalia, couldnt overcome the poor draw against the boys and faded in the straight to finish well back after sitting 3-wide for the last lap.

Zabrinski and $45,000 buy in New Zealand, has not missed a place since joining the Ian Frost stable in Ballarat.

Frosty has done a good job with him. He had a few setbacks and Ian has done a good job to get him to the track tonight, driver Chris Alford said.

Zabrinski created a big impression winning his first Australian start at Ballarat but subsequent awkward draws brought about his downfall. After drawing two tonight, he returned to the winners list impressively with a fast mile rate of 1:58.8.

He travelled well tonight. We were fortunate at the start to get behind the leader, once there he was always going to be hard to beat.

Hes going to be a nice horse who will keep going through his classes. If he get things to go his way, he can challenge the more classy 3yos in the bigger races, Alford said.
