ANOTHER Australian representative has been withdrawn from next month’s New Zealand Jewels with trainer Kevin Pizzuto confirming three year old gelding Heza Bromac will not be making the trip across the Tasman.  Pizzuto gave the son of Rob Roy Mattgregor ten days in the paddock after his most recent start but the short break failed to rejuvenate the five time winner.

“It isn’t great news for the owners but I need to do the right thing by the horse so I have scratched him from the Harness Jewels,” Pizzuto said.

“I think Heza Bromac has a huge future, I tried to freshen him up after he won at Menangle last month but since I’ve had him back in work he doesn’t feel as sharp and I wouldn’t be doing the right thing by the horse or the race itself by taking him.”

Pizzuto confirmed Heza Bromac will return to the paddock immediately and will spell for two months.

“If we were going to New Zealand he would have trialled on Monday and raced this Saturday night but he didn’t trial and I have scratched him from this weekend’s race.

“His season is over, he will go out for two months and then I will bring him back and target some feature four year old races.  The Chariots Of Fire is the main aim but if he comes back as well as I think he will then I might head to Perth for the feature four year old races.”

While Heza Bromac will not make the trip to New Zealand, Pizzuto will still be making the journey to the Jewels and is looking forward to the break.

“I need a break as much as the horse does I think, so I’m going to have a week over in New Zealand.  I’m going to go to the Jewels but I’m also looking to buy some horses.

“I’m going to be trialling 20 to 30 horses while I’m there because I am looking to restock my stable. Danny (Zavitsanos) and Warren (Viney) own Heza Bromac and want to buy another one just like him, they've told me they are going to spend a lot of money while we are over there. ”
