Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Stewards today conducted an inquiry into licensed trainer/driver Joe Pace’s conduct after the protest hearing from Race 1 at the Elmore @ Tabcorp Park meeting on Sunday 24 April 2016.
After hearing evidence from Mr Pace he was charged under Australian Rule of Harness Racing (ARHR) 231(2) which states:
A person shall not misconduct himself in any way.
The charge related to Mr Pace’s conduct after the protest hearing where he made adverse comments regarding the stewards decision and threatened to scratch his horse engaged later in the meeting.
In assessing penalty Stewards were mindful that Mr Pace had had two prior offences under this rule in the previous 12 months.
Mr Pace was found guilty as charged and stewards imposed a fine of $1,000 of which $500 would be stayed for a period of 12 months.
