Action from the Geelong trots.
Trots clubs throughout Victoria continue to benefit from the Daniel Andrews State Government’s Victorian Racing Industry Fund.
Cranbourne, Echuca and Geelong recently completed a re-lamping project worth $181,234, with the State Government and Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) each contributing 50 per cent of the overall funding.
Given the trots’ long and historic attachment to night meetings, dating back to the late 1800s, ensuring quality lighting at racing venues is essential.
“HRV has initiated the formulation of a rolling re-lamping schedule to ensure the lighting quality is kept to a high standard,” HRV Development/Infrastructure Manager Rob Pongho said.
“The works undertaken have resulted in a much brighter and proficient spectacle and will also reduce ongoing maintenance.”
The trots industry in Victoria contributes $421.8 million annually to the state economy with almost 4000 full-time equivalent jobs. The majority of the industry is based in regional Victoria and whole communities are benefiting from this VRIF funding.
