Local trainers won five of the eight races at Monday's trots program at Warragul, including top trainer Jayne Davies, who took the honours with two local winners in Majordan and Mister Clooney.
Drouin West trainers Gary and Debbie Quinlan landed the last race winner when Modern Ville was driven a peach by Chris Alford.
Modern Ville's win will prove a good tonic for part-owner June Turner, who is not enjoying the best of health. June's daughter, Debbie Quinlan, said after the race her mum would get a great deal of joy from Modern Ville's win - the family bred the four-year-old mare, who has won two races with three minor placings from 11 starts.
Retired school principal Terry Howard had his first winner at Warragul when Illawong Libby won the sixth event. Terry trains at Cranbourne and is a relatively recent addition to the local trots ranks. Illawong Libby has won five races from 45 starts.
Consistent Cranbourne South trotter Fiftyshadesofbrown won again in the handicap race and has developed a liking for the Warragul track. Fiftyshadesofbrown has won at two of the three Warragul meetings staged this year for owner Georgie Coram and trainer/driver Allan Lousada.
Havelock horsewoman Tina Ridis scored her first win at Warragul with Itsallaboutex in the seventh event, when the six-year-old stormed home to gain the prize, making the long trip to Gippsland all the more worthwhile.
Two qualifying heats of the Ken Miller Memorial race were staged, with the first five across the line in each division returning at the next Warragul meeting on May 2 for the final.
Visiting pacers Sir Liberty and Comigal won the heats, however six local horses will fly the flag for a home victory in the final after qualifying.
