One punter had a close eye on the Tuesday night meeting at Wagga with a large bet of $18,400 being placed on the Dennis Picker trained Fastestgirlintown at the odds of $1.75.  The first starter scored narrowly by a half head and the punter won $13,800.  The daughter of Sportswriter had won a trial at Bathurst prior to her debut and it will be interesting to watch her career develop.

Largest winning bets (stake) –

  • $15,000 @ $1.25 The Shady One – Goulburn Feb 1
  • $5,300 @ $1.35 Have Faith In Me – Menangle Jan 30
  • $5,000 @ $1.45 Blue Moon Rising – Menangle Jan 30

Wagga was a happy hunting ground for another punter when they secured a five figure collect when Shes All Business proved too strong last Friday night.  One bet of $1,500 at $7.50 meant a return of $12,075.

Largest winning bet (result)

  • $1,500 @ $6.50 Master Matty (return $10,705) – Wagga Jan 29
  • $3,000 @ $2.10 Abbey Cullen (return $6,300) – Menangle Jan 29
  • $500 @ $7.50 Im Supersonic (return $3,750) – Menangle Jan 29

Downunder Stride failed at Goulburn on Monday afternoon and in the process cost one punter $7,000 after backing the Belinda McCarthy trained runner at the odds of $3.00.  Driven by Todd McCarthy the former kiwi finished last.

  • $5,000 @ $3.00 Ten In Command finished 4th – Goulburn Feb 1
  • $2,000 @ $6.00 Armbrosalee finished 10th – Wagga Jan 29
  • $2,000 @ $5.00 Regal Ducati finished 7th – Wagga Jan 29

A punter took a liking to the place chances of Always Bad at Goulburn on Monday afternoon and wagered $5,000 at the odds of $9.33 to finish in the top three.  If the bet had been successful it would have meant a return of $46,550 but Always Bad finished last in the event more than 20 metres from the placegetters.

  • $5,000 @ $2.80 Strathlachlan Andy finished 2nd – Menangle Jan 29
  • $2,500 @ $4.00 Poco Aces finished 2nd – Wagga Jan 29
  • $2,120 @ $2.10 Karloo Ten Seventy finished 2nd – Bathurst Jan 27
