One quarter of the yearlings listed on the Tasracing website page earlier this month have been sold, reports Tasracing CEO Eliot Forbes.
“Four of the 16 lots advertised have been sold within three weeks of launching the site. It proves that there is a demand for the local product and that vendors are willing to meet the market,” Forbes said.
The strength of the local breeding industry and the Tasbred Bonus Scheme have been overriding factors in the success of the sale.
Lyndon Menegon, the owner of Big Park Stud, who has already knocked down two fillies, said the breeder coupons had played a large part in both sales.
“The Tasracing website page has certainly been a positive for us,” Menegon said.
Rick Hinds, who conducts Kell-Cill Standardbreds, sold a Four Starzzz Shark filly on the website page and says he will contribute to future sales.
“I’m a supporter of the concept. I’ll have a yearling for the website page next year,” Hinds said.
“I hope the concept is successful and people support the website page.”
Brighton breeder Noel Salter, who sold the Western Terror-Cloudy Delight colt, is adamant that the Tasbred breeders coupons are an attraction to yearling buyers.
“The buyers can win four Tasbred bonuses for two and three-year-olds as well as the Tasbred Series,” Salter said.
‘Tasracing is doing a good job in promoting the series to prospective buyers.”
