MEDIA RELEASE
The HRSA Board has formally resolved that the SAMOS Scheme will continue under a new revised scheme from 1 September 2015. The conditions of the new scheme are as follows:
- Eligible broodmares will receive a certificate on winning a TAB covered race in South Australia.
- Certificates can only be issued and redeemed to mares that are 100% South Australian owned (ie all owners must be residents of SA and on the SA electoral role)
- An eligible broodmare can win a maximum of 4 certificates in her lifetime - 2 in the first 12 months of racing, followed by 1 additional certificate in separate 12 month periods.
- Certificates will expire 10 years from the date of issue.
- Certificates are not transferable to another mare.
- Mares can be booked at any Stud or Stallion Management Company.
- Bookings and payment of the stud fee is the responsibility of the broodmare owner.
- A certificate is valued at $500.
- When the live foal is registered with the relevant controlling body, HRSA will make a payment of $500 to the owner of the mare.
- Two certificates can only be used in any one season.
- If the mare dies or is diagnosed as barren, the certificate is void.
- Certificates have no value – they are simply a record of eligibility.
- HRSA maintains a database of all eligible mares.
As previously advised, in relation to current certificates and certificates issued up until 31 August 2015, they have a value of $800 and mares can be booked at any Stud or Stallion Management Company and all current certificates and new certificates issued up until 31 August 2015 will expire on 31 August 2025. All other conditions remain unchanged.
