Harness Racing Australia (HRA) was stunned by news of the sudden passing of Tasracing Chairman, Mr Brian Speers, yesterday afternoon.
HRA Chairman, Mr Geoff Want, paid tribute to Mr Speers' contribution to the harness racing industry, "Having joined the HRA Executive in October 2010, Brian was a vibrant board member who provided wonderful leadership and support to our sport both nationally and on behalf of his home State of Tasmania.
"His talent, wisdom, insight, counsel and humour will all be both sadly missed and cherished memories.
"Brian's passion for racing and his family was evident for all to see, and we pass on our condolences to Dianne and the Speers family who are firmly in our thoughts."
