Who are we?

Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) is responsible for the control, development and promotion of the Victorian harness racing industry.  We are committed to developing a vibrant and sustainable harness racing industry which promotes participation, integrity and racing excellence and grow returns to all our stakeholders.  We run around 450 race meetings per year at 26 tracks throughout Victoria.  Victorian harness racing is an important contributor to the Victorian economy generating $422m yearly and employing just under 4000 (full time equivalent) people across the state.

About the role

HRV’s integrity unit is responsible for overseeing the reputation and integrity of harness racing in Victoria.  The Manager Investigations & Compliance is a newly created position with responsibility for non-race day integrity functions.  Reporting to the General Manager Integrity, responsibilities may include: 

 

  • Conducting investigations, preparing briefs
  • Handling appeals to relevant tribunals
  • Managing HRVs drug control program
  • Managing program of stable inspections
  • Managing the licensing of industry participants
  • Liaison with Office of the Racing Integrity Commissioner

What you will need

This position would suit someone who has significant investigations experience and is seeking career change opportunity.  You may be a current serving member or have prior experience gained in a law enforcement agency.  You may otherwise be an appropriately qualified investigator. 

Importantly, you will also have proven experience leading and managing a small team and take pride in leading by example and promote a professional collaborative culture.  A strong communicator you will be able to deal with people at all levels.  

You will be able to quickly analyse situations, carefully plan and conduct investigations and provide timely and accurate advice and recommendations to senior levels.

Legal or investigative qualifications would be highly regarded.  A genuine desire to work and make a contribution to protecting the integrity of the racing industry is a must.
