An equine extravaganza is planned for Bendigo Harness Racing Club on Anzac Night, April 25.
Eleven races will be held on the night, including a Monte (a ridden trotters race), plus the four-race Pony Trot Country Cups State Final.
There will also be a western horse display, equestrian display, harness gearing demonstration, farrier display, horse grooming display, a chance to meet the Clerks of the Course and the Northern Standardbred Riding Group, plus a challenge race – Monte trotter versus Sulkied Pacer versus Quarterhorse.
With double-seater sulky rides, mobile barrier rides and free pony rides and animal nursery for the kids, the night has something for everyone.
“Not only will patrons experience the excitement of live harness racing, but will have the opportunity to see a range of other horse disciplines showcasing their special features,” said Bendigo Racing Operations Manager Gary Cooper.
“The night is also particularly targeted towards children, with local pony clubs being in attendance. It will be a great educational opportunity for the kids to learn a lot about a range of horse-related activities.”
Patrons will also have a chance to win a two-night accommodation package at Talo Retreat @ Moama on Murray Resort (valued at $560) with a free ticket upon entry at the main gate.
Dinner packages are available at $45 for a three-course meal plus racebook and reserved window seating. All RSL members, Veterans and Defence Force personnel will also be admitted free of charge on the night.
The race night has been supported by the Victorian Raceday Attractions Program.
“Events such as Bendigo’s Harness Racing and Horse Extravaganza Anzac Night meeting at Lord’s Raceway are great ways for the community to learn more about harness racing and the horse, and Harness Racing Victoria and the Bendigo club are grateful for the State Government support this event has received,” said HRV General Manager of Operations Vaughn Lynch.
