Six-time Australian driving champion Chris Alford is
poised to become the most successful reinsman in Australasian Breeders Crown
history.
Alford, who shares the driving honours with Brian Gath
at three wins apiece, has bookings in five of the six Breeders Crown finals at
Bendigo on Sunday afternoon.
The Bolinda horseman has identified Vicbred champion
Nemeeshar (3YO fillies) and star Kiwi trotter Hurricane Flyer (3YO trotters) as
his horses' most likely to triumph.
"Nemeeshar and Hurricane Flyer are both great
winning chances and Penny Veejay (3YO colts) is not too far behind them
either," Alford said.
"Nemeeshar felt very strong in her semi and was
the only horse bucking her brands off after the run. She draws perfectly in four
and we'll be charging out in search of the lead.
"Hurricane Flyer trialled really well the other
night and is suited from four because of his gate speed. We'll definitely come
out humming over the first 100 (metres).
"Penny Veejay pulled a little in the semi, but
still ran a great race and I wouldn't be writing him off in the final."
Alford will also pilot semi-final winner Cosmos Art in
the two-year-old colts and geldings final and outsider Show Girl Lombo in the
two-year-old fillies division.
