Racing Queensland (RQ) Stewards today conducted an inquiry into the discovery of a prohibited substance Testaprop during a stable inspection carried out at the training premises of licenced trainer Mick Grant on Saturday, 21st March 2015.
After considering evidence tendered by Mr Grant, stewards issued a charge pursuant to Rule 190A (4) which states:
If any substance or preparation that could give rise to an offence under this rule if administered to a horse at any time is found at any time at any premises used in relation to the training or racing of horses then any owner, trainer or person who owns, trains or races or is in charge of horses at those premises is deemed to have the substance or preparation in their possession and such person shall be guilty of an offence.
The specifics of the charge being that the substance Testaprop which is an anabolic androgenic steroid and thereby a substance that could give rise to an offence under this rule if administered, was found at the stables registered as the training premises of licenced trainer Mick Grant during a stable inspection conduced on Saturday, 21st March 2015.
Mr Grant pleaded guilty to the charge and after hearing submissions on penalty Stewards imposed a fine of $1000.
Mr. M Grant was advised of his rights of appeal.
