New Zealand trainer Dave Anderson has declared current stable star Hurricane Flyer a better horse than his 2001 Australasian Breeders Crown champion Locofoco.

However, he tempered that statement by saying that the quality of opposition had lifted since his then stable star claimed the three-year-old trotters final at Moonee Valley.

"He (Hurricane Flyer) is a better horse than Locofoco, but he'll need to be because it's pretty hot field he meets on Sunday," Anderson said.

"Those two who run first and second in the Derby (A Touch Of Flair and Calder Sensation) are pretty smart and you can't underestimate Bad Boy Truscott even if he is a bit up and down."

Hurricane Flyer will start favourite in the $67,000 Australasian Breeders Crown 3YO Trotters Final at Bendigo on Sunday after drawing perfectly in gate four.

Of his rivals, Bad Boy Truscott will start from gate two, Calder Sensation from inside the second line in eight and A Touch Of Flair next door in gate nine.

"I don't think we could have him any better heading into the final, he really is super," Anderson added.

"Since he last raced he's trialled well at Bendigo last week when he led throughout and Chris (Alford, driver) said he felt very strong on the line."

Filling the placings behind the Great Northern Derby winner in that star-studded trial were the Victoria Derby winner A Touch Of Flair and reigning Breeders Crown champion Bad Boy Truscott.

The Australasian Breeders 3YO Trotters Final will be run at 4.37pm this Sunday.
