Sudden Change takes out her Nevele R Stud Victoria Oaks Heat for Nathan Jack and Drean Braun.

SUDDEN Change, Delightful Lana and Read About Lexy won their Nevele R Stud Victoria Oaks heats on Friday night at Tabcorp Park Melton.

Delightful Lana recorded the quickest winning time with a mile rate of 1:57.1, the Peter Walsh-trained daughter of Bettors Delight out of Long Live Lana defeating second-placed Larry Eastman-trained Morton Plains by 1.3m and Shane Tritton-trained Miss Riviera by 1.4m.

Luke McCarthy drove Delightful Lana ($2.80fav), who worked around early leader Keayang Ebonyrose when the dust settled to assume control.

The second-favourite Niki No No was caught parked without cover, while Miss Riviera Belle got shuffled back three-back-the-pegs from the pole for Lauren Panella.

Delightful Lana sprinted home in 56.4secs, Morton Plains attacking the line strongly in second place for Chris Alford, with Miss Riviera poking through late for third.

Read About Lexy went 1:57.2 (last half 57.1secs) to defeat Makes Every Scents in impressive fashion by 7.4m, the Bernie Hewitt trained and driven Sportswriter/Lexys Laughing filly paying $1.30 on the tote.

Union Ally was third and Jilliby Dreamtime fourth.

Trainer Dean Braun produced the first of the Oaks heat winners for the night with Tasmanian Oaks winner Sudden Change (Changeover/Crimson Trail) victorious by 1.9m over Glenferrie Bronte (Amanda Turnbull), while Whitershadeofpale was third from her pole draw.

Nathan Jack drove the winner, while Keayang Torah ran fourth.

The final field for Saturday night’s Nevele R Stud Victoria Oaks Final ($150,505) will be announced tomorrow morning.
