IT MAY have been only a low grade $3000 Graduation Class event, but for Rockbank owner/trainer/driver Peter Wilson it was a dream come true when five-year-old Jeremes Jet/Broadway Idol gelding Idle Jet greeted the judge in the ADE Turf Equipment Pace for R0 class over 1609 metres at Cranbourne on Saturday, March 28.

Sent forward from gate five, Idle Jet exhausted a fair amount of petrol before crossing the pole line leader Mighty Maxwell at the bell and after finding the front, was driven confidently by kicking clear on entering the home straight.

Although the well-supported Johnny Tsunami (Gavin Lang) finished hard from a one/one passage, Idle Jet just lasted to register a nose decision in 2:00.9. Union Mist battled on strongly to finish third 4.5 metres away.

Peter has been involved in the sport for over 40 years, being associated with the legendary George Gath and in more recent times John Tortona.
