For the second time in recent weeks, Parwan trainer Jodi Quinlan provided the trifecta in the monte after winning the CV Batteries Monte over 1650 metres at Lord’s Raceway Bendigo on Wednesday night, with revitalized 10-year-old Sundon/Sorry Hall gelding Si Capisco again the victor.
Ridden by Ararat's Emma Hamblin, Si Capisco, who has been in a number of stables since first gracing the tracks, began safely from 20 metres to settle five back along the markers in a strung out field, with lightly assessed stablemate Mosquito Spur leading from the pole.
Off and running prior to the bell to lead for the final circuit, Si Capisco even though getting tired at the finish, ran his rivals off their feet to register a neck margin over Mosquito Spur with jumps jockey Paul Hamblin (no relation to the winner) in the saddle, with hot favourite Illawong Moonshine and Scandanavian Benjamin Aubron third after racing roughly with a lap to travel. The mile rate 2-04.7.
Raced by Melton brothers Luke and Paul Stokie, Si Capisco has fronted the starter on 129 occasions, winning 18 times.
