Last year's Country Cups horse of the year, Arber, will start in Sunday's Wangaratta Pacing Cup.

SUNDAY'S annual Wangaratta Pacing Cup meeting promises to be a cracker with an eight-race card kicking off at 6.07pm.

The night will feature three Vicbred Platinum Series heats, The George Croxford Tribute Final, the Les Canny Memorial Pace, the Frank & Jenny Dimetz Wangaratta Trotters Cup and the 2015 Wangaratta Pacing Cup.

Nine runners will line up in the 2210-metre Wangaratta Pacing Cup, which carries a purse of $12,275 – $7,898 to the winner.

Wangaratta is an old-style track, 813 metres in circumference with a 202-metre home straight.

Six horses start across the front line and there is no sprint lane.

Strathfieldsaye trainer Julie Douglas has two starters in the feature race, five-year-old gelding Skippy Rascal – who won at Melton two starts back – and Itsnewstome, who recently joined the stable from Sydney.

Reigning country cups horse of the year Arber will come out the five hole for trainer Tim Bolitho of Anakie, the eight-year-old son of Village Jasper coming off two fifths in the Terang and Geelong Cups.

Michael Stanley will pilot Angela McDonough trained Classy Western from gate six, the Western Terror gelding an impressive Melton winner two starts back.

From the back line Road To Rock has drawn seven for Elmore’s Keith Cotchin, the strong David Aiken stable from Avenel will be represented by Rustys Reject from gate eight, and Washmepockets has drawn gate nine for Cranbourne’s Vivian Tomren.

The others to line up in the cup are Amanda Turnbull’s bay mare Vienna Eyre and Joe Costa trained polemarker Life Of Ted.

Rising star Asdenro lines up in the Trotters Cup, starting from outside the front line for Haydon Gray.

In-form Looks A Moral will provide some stiff competition though from barrier five, the Steve Zammit trained squaregaiter in terrific form of late.

There will be loads of giveaways at the track, including a $1000 TAB voucher to the winner of the HRV/TAB Trot Selfies competition.
