Australian Rule of Harness Racing (ARHR) 331 reads:
A horse that in the opinion of the Stewards gallops in the final 200 metres of a race shall be disqualified from the race
After considerable discussion and review of Rule 331, Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Stewards inform participants that the word ‘gallops’ will be interpreted as ‘breaking gait’ and will include pacing or galloping to bring it in line with ARHR 154 & ARHR 155. Therefore any horse which breaks gait in the final 200m of the race will be disqualified from the race.
