Many of Australia’s leading breeders of straightout trotters have thrown their support behind the Pryde’s EasiFeed Australasian Premier Trotting Sale to be held at Tabcorp Park, Melton on Sunday, March 8.
Aldebaran Lodge, conducted by well known Melbourne trotting benefactor Duncan Mcherson, has the biggest draft with 13 lots – three colts and 10 fillies. They include fillies out of the multiple Group placegetters Countessa Hest and Aldebaran Maori and The Redwood Consolation winner Aldebaran Breeze and a colt from the Group 1 placegetter Aldebaranfavourite.
Pat Driscoll’s Yabby Dam Farms will be offering five royally-bred colts at the sale. All are out of race-winning mares including the Trotters Oaks winners Maori’s Dream (Vic.) and Queen’s Rhapsody (NSW) and Speedy Naomi, who won 15 races.
Staffordshire Park, Rochester, operated by Michael, Faye, Neville and Louise Pangrazio, has a three-prong draft including two colts from the family of Maori’s Idol, Noopy Kiosk, Sumthingaboutmaori and their former champion Tennotrump.
A number of key vendors are dually represented at the sale.
Kevin Newbound has two youngsters out of daughters of broodmare gem Be Positive, the dam of Exuberant, Posimistic and Got It Show It, while Gus Underwood, the part-owner of top flight filly Claudy’s Princess, will be offering a full brother to four-time Group 1 winner.
Swan Hill identity Gerard Moloney, Ross Simpson (of Karamea fame) and Geoff and Lorraine Barnes of Balmain Lodge each have a pair of Bacardi Lindy’s in the catalogue, while Oak Park Standardbreds, run by the Toulmin family, have entered well-bred colts by Angus Hall and Metropolitan.
Other well known trotting breeders with single entries include Martin Harnett, Jim Connelly, Gary Donaldson, Dennis Bice, Michael Taylor, Keith Semmens and Pauline Thomson.
