Champion Sires Well Represented At Bathurst Gold Crown Yearling Sale

The leading sires from North America, Australia and New Zealand are strongly represented in the catalogue for the 2015 Bathurst Gold Crown Yearling Sale to be held at the Bathurst Showground on Sunday, March 22.

The 208 lots listed are the progeny of 57 different stallions.

Art Major, Australia’s leading juvenile sire for the last four years, has five entries, while Bettor’s Delight, the premier overall sire in Australia, NZ and America in 2014, will be represented by two lots.

Other Top Ten sires in Mach Three (2), Courage Under Fire (6), Modern Art (5), Grinfromeartoear (3) and Blissfull Hall (3) have progeny in the sale.

Somebeachsomewhere, the premier sire of three-year-olds in North America in 2014, has four entries, while Sportswriter, Australia’s leading first-crop sire last year, has six and his Pepper Tree Farm studmates Always A Virgin and Rock N Roll Heaven have nine and five respectively.

Rocknroll Hanover, the leading USA sire in 2012 and runner-up last year, has three entries in the sale.

Other established stallions represented include Four Starzzz Shark (7 lots), Presidential Ball (3), Artistic Fella (3), Badlands Hanover (3), Life Sign (2), American Ideal (1) and Armbro Operative (1).

The stallion with the largest draft is former USA 2YO Colt of the Year Major Art with 14, followed by Passmaster Hanover (12), Flightpath (10) and Always A Virgin and Million Dollar Cam with nine each.

Sires represented by their first crop are former USA 3YO of the Year Roll With Joe (9 lots), NSW trained champion For A Reason (8), Shadyshark Hanover (3), USA and Canadian 2YO of the Year Big Jim (2) and the American classic winners Gothic Dream and If I Can Dream one apiece.
