The allocation of barriers for Drivers competing in the 2015 World Driving Championship (WDC) has been determined in a random draw of positions undertaken at the offices of Harness Racing New South Wales (HRNSW).

A feature of the 2015 Championship, which starts on Saturday night, 21 February at Tabcorp Park Menangle, is the decision to allow each of the Drivers to start twice from each of the ten (10) barrier positions across the twenty (20) Heat series.  Nominated horses will then be drawn randomly to barrier positions when fields are released.

Host country representative Chris Alford (Australia) will get the chance to open his account from the prized barrier one (1) position, while Defending Champion, Pierre Vercruysse (France) will leave the gate from barrier five (5) in the first Heat.

All Heats are mobile start races and all bar one Heat are pacing races.

Points for the Championship are awarded in each race according to the final, official order of finish, on the following basis:

Number of Starters – 10:

17 (1st place); 12 (2nd place); 9 (3rd place); 7 (4th); 6 (5th); 5 (6th); 4 (7th); 3 (8th); 2 (9th) & 1 (10th)

Number of Starters – 9:

16 (1st); 11 (2nd); 8 (3rd); 6 (4th); 5 (5th); 4 (6th); 3 (7th); 2 (8th) & 1 (9th)

Number of Starters – 8:

15 (1st); 10 (2nd); 7 (3rd); 5 (4th); 4 (5th); 3 (6th); 2 (7th) & 1 (8th)

Drivers will start arriving in Australia from Thursday this week and are congregating at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Friday afternoon, 20 February, for a familiarisation and integrity information session before joining the Mayor and Councillors of the City of Campbelltown for a Civic Reception and official welcome.

A full table of barrier positions is available below.
