Christen Me and Dexter Dunn take out the TAB Victoria Cup ahead of Lennytheshark.
Christen Me has added the TAB Victoria Cup to his bulging feature race trophy cabinet after an all-the-way success in tonight’s $400,000 Group 1 at Tabcorp Park Melton.
Brilliant reinsman Dexter Dunn took the initiative as the mobile accelerated in the 2240m race, Christen Me charging to the lead from gate six.
Aside from Guaranteed and Gavin Lang, who rolled around to the breeze, there were few moves mid-race, which allowed Christen Me to get away with cheap early splits before ripping home in 54 seconds for the last 800m to take out the feature race on night one of the TAB Summer of Glory in a mile rate of 1:55.
Lennytheshark ran on well to finish second, 1.9 metres behind the winner for trainer David Aiken and driver Chris Alford, while Adore Me was the eye-catcher, powering home for third for trainer/driver Mark Purdon.
Guaranteed battled on valiantly for fourth after sitting parked throughout, with stablemate Philadelphia Man fifth.
Dunn and Dalgety combined for three winners tonight, Bit Of A Legend taking out the Good Form Pure Steel and Art Union upsetting Follow The Stars in heat three of the Victoria Derby.
